Photos of 2009 Tactical Pistol Classes

Janet came in from Alaska and took our Tactical Pistol Class on New Years Eve with her husband Tom. Talk about dedication!

Tom putting rounds through a rental Glock 17. They were an awesome couple to have our for a private class.

What a tough class. 15-20 mile and hour winds. 12 degrees and less at times. It took me hours to warm up when it was all over. They took every thing that mother nature and me dished out and performed very well. By the end of the day they were all shooting amazing groups and that tiny target they are standing by has hits that were made while walking forward and back in very bad weather. Great job guys and gals!

Mitch putting shots on steel. Mitch’s positive attitude helped the group push through the dropping temperatures.

Mark in the middle of a multiple target drill.

Retention shooting drills.

Leslie during speedshooting drills

Adam engaging multiple targets

Scott in the middle of counter-hostage taker drills on our new steel targets.

Ricky in the middle of a steel drill. That dried mud on his shirt is from the impacts on the berm and a little wind.

Scott of class 12409 has 2 empties in the air and one more shot about to leave the barrel in a 3 shot steel target drill.

Richard of class 12409 putting a single aimed shot the center mass.

Richard and Chad of class12409. Richard was able to increase his accuracy by over 75% in the first hour. Our Tactical Pistol class stresses accuracy and Speed.

Chad of class 12409 rockin’ on of our rental Glock 22 pistols.

Class 13109 just as it started to get windy. They came up from the Littleton area and all improved very rapidly.

Shooting with the non-dominate hand sucks. But the H-Team shot very well left handed. Rosemary and Anne’s guns are in full recoil and they are ready to pick up their front sights for follow-up shots.

Katie performing a reload from the supine position. This girl had great mindset and had that controlled aggression dialed in.

Did I mention the “controlled aggression”
Katie’s significant other is just now coming off a 15-month deployment in Iraq. We wish him a safe return. Your girl shot great today.

Class 13109. The H-Team. Anyone who has taken my class knows that it is not easy, there are no “light” training days. We do not have that luxury. We must train to win our gun fights and I will always do my best to prepare you to face those challenges. Great job Hantelmans!!

Class 20809 in the supine position. They were troopers and handled the colder weather very well.

Nichole, Dave, and Paul in the foreground. This was the first time for all of them shooting from this position.

Class 020809. The gal behind the steel target is the cute girl on all our flyers in the yellow shirt. On the main training page of the website
Behind her is mom (kim) and dave (dave). If I am not mistaken… Amber is wearing the same pants as in the flyers…..just dont ask her to show you what she wears to “help the Broncos win”
Good work class!

We finally had great weather for class. This class was ready to roll when we hit the range and we put the petal to the metal until the very end.

Gettin’ down and dirt.

This group of guys were athletic and we kept pushing the pace.

Class 022109 Good Job guys.

60 degree weather. No wind. These guys had it easy

This was a big class. They have been one of my most safety conscience groups so far this year. Thank you for keeping each other safe.

Brandon smokin’ 7 10 and 8 with our Glock 22 rental.

Students blasting bad guys of the end of their guns.

Here are your new graduates. Class 022209. Congratulations on a job well done. I appreciate your hard work and positive attitudes.

These are their first shots of the day. 4 hours later, they are completely different people.

Dont knock these guys and gals down…. they can take the fight anywhere at anytime.

Judith in the foreground runnin’ her SIG P225. Judith’s high energy and positive attitude was a driving force for the whole class.

That steel target is very small and Judith was ringing it like a bell!

Alissa shooting a rental Glock 19 in full recoil. As you can see here excellent form and grip contribute to minimal muzzle flip and rise. She is in the middle of a 3 shot rapid fire string. That target is only 7-8″ wide and she is tearing it up.

Melissa is a great example of someone came to us to learn to shoot, and instead came away with the skill and mindset to defend her family. She is now the weapon for herself and the shield for her family.

Todd running our Glock 17 rental. He is in the middle of a multiple bad guy drill. He shot well all day long.

Rob shooting a Glock 30 in 45 ACP. He did a great job of running a small gun with alot of punch.

Who says firearm training has to be boring. Instead of training with some crusty, loud, and abusive instructor- Train with us. These two shooters, fresh back from the range asked to do the Charlie’s Angels pose. The confidence in themselves if clearly evident. Rock on !!

Here they are. Class 030809. What a great group of people. This was a fun class and I thank them for their attention to safety and a willingness to let me push them farther then they thought they could go.

Cathy and Marvin runnin’ the guns dry. Cathy had purchased a Glock 19 from us a few day earlier.

Class 031509 It is always awesome to meet genuine, motivated, good people.

A huge class refueling on Jimmy Johns before heading off to the range. You can tell in this picture they have no idea just how awesome they will be shooting in just a few hours.

Another full class. I really liked some of the t-shirts

Dont let the suspenders fool ya
That guy can shoot! He had me laughing my butt of more than once.

Amber is second in this line. She is pretty vicious and I would recommend against attacking her. Ya just might find yourself missing a few pints of blood

Ready to take the fight anywhere.

It was high 60s and hydration was always on our mind. Going supine.

Shooting any gun from this position is a little difficult. He made it look pretty easy.

Mike brass is clearly visible and he is actually in the process of firing the second shot! Notice the solid grip that leads to good recoil management and minimal muzzle rise.

That Glock 30 is no joke. A fist full of reliable 45 ACP. The empty is flying by and another is about to leave the barrel.

That is one of our Glock 17 rentals being put through its paces.

Another Glock 17 rental. He is in the middle of a multiple target drill. Notice both eyes open. Looking for the front sight.

Lindsey becoming one with the Glock 19. She did a great job with what was a very hard class.

Say hello to Coren. She never gave up. Broken nails, cuts, bruises. This gal is a fighter and I hope to see her and her husband again. Good people. We both learned alot from this class in relations to gun selection for women, different ways of manipulating slide locks,… Thank you Coren.

This trouble maker could shoot!
We really enjoyed having him in class.

Here they are. Class 032109. Eyes were openned. Bodys toughened, Minds sharpened. I am glad these people live in my neck of the woods.

Ken, Andrew, and Joe shooting their first rounds of the day.

Donna had way to much fun. She was all about getting dirty and working hard.

Joe shooting from supine. He started off shooting pretty well and just got better and better.

Ken is seen here ventilating bad guys are contact distance. It doesnt get any more real than that.

Do not mistake Dino in this photo with the fun loving dinosaur of Flintstone fame…. Our Dino, was shooting for the first time today. An awesome, easy going guy…. But if you come with bad intentions…. you will regret it.

Class 032809. We had two husband wife teams and one father and son team. You need only look at this picture and see the love they have for one another. THAT is why they were in class today. THESE are the people that the liberal left are demonizing as extremists. These are good people that I was fortunate enough to spend the day training with. Good job guys and gals.

Father/ Daughter time. Bob and Maggie getting the day started. Maggie had never shot a gun before and was shooting about 13″ groups. Within a short time we had her shooting roughly 3″ groups. Bob was already a good shooter with 4 1/2 ” groups. However within a short period of time we had him shooting sub 2″ groups. Good job you two.

We had alot of Goatheads at our new range but they are all on Maggies shirt now

Bob, Bob, Bob…. He decapitated the bad guy in the contact drills. Bob is a nice guy though and stapled it back on…. Just before he shot him again

Did I mention she had never shot before? You woul’nt have thought that during this drill. Lightning fast out of the holster, awesome technique, good placement of the support hand…. The result…. 2 perfect hits!

Our students get more tools for the tool bag than any other class out there. Mags here is defending an attack from the rear with a femoral slice with a combat folding knife. She will follow up with 3 shots to the chest. Aggressive and decisive!

Here is the class photo for private class 041109. Bob had called me about class months ago but schedules kept conflicting. We finally got him and Maggie out for a class. I am very proud of them both.

Aubrey is shooting one of our Glock 19 rental guns.

The Kissler clan in the supine shooting position. Its not as easy as it looks but they got it done.

Here is class 041909. Its always great to see familys out to class.

Micah in full recoil with a Glock 21SF. This is the best 45 ACP pistol on the market.

Rob Martin rockin the new MP9 Pistol he bought from us a few days prior to class. Dale is right beside him smoking targets.

Bob going supine with the Glock 22 in .40 cal he bought from us 1-2 days prior to class.

Class 042509. Good Job guys. I think I can say we openned some minds and dispelled some myths in this class. Keep up the good work.

Larissa and Sharon on the firing line. Larissa has an untapped talent with shooting that I hope she develops. Sharon really pushed herself and when it counted she delivered perfect hits.

Stephanie with perfect form on the way back to her holster. Good technique on the reholster is every bit as important as the draw itself.

Excuses. Everyone has one…. except Sharon. She had the mindset and the will to press forward and became very good at slide manipulation. She has small hands and admits to having weaker fingers and here she is doing it perfectly. She is an inspiration to me.

Class is getting ready to engage targets to there left. Knowing how to fight even when at a disadvantage is the only way to train. Classes that only teach best case scenarios are not worth your money, or your life.

Jeff and Chris during the first drills of the day. Mastering marksmanship.

This is Floyd and his MP9. This picture is so bad ass that words cannot do it justice. I really enjoyed the focus and insightful questions that Floyd brought to class.

Jim is shown here shooting from retention. This drill is an eye openner for many a student.

Jeff in supine and his pistol in full recoil! Jeff shot well but more than anything that I remember, he never stopped smiling the whole day. It was a very hot day and the guy was just smiling the whole day. A good attitude can make any day a great day.

Say hi to Stephaine. I am sure you will agree with me that in this picture… she looks like Linda Hamilton of Terminator 2 fame. This girl is awesome. She is an ICU nurse so as a fellow R.N I was very pleased to have her in class.

Class 051609. Thank you all for a safe and very fun day.

Shooting our first shots of the day in the ALL woman Amy Oliver Radio show class. We are looking at her hits after a 1 on 1 session.

Karla and I during the 1 on 1 part of class where we fine tune trigger control and give a glimps into what each shooter is capable of.

Once we had refined trigger control I let her go and she continued to keep putting the bullets where they needed to be.

Amy and I after the 1 on 1.

1 on 1 with a student. She was very nervous…. but then it counted she delivered perfect hits.

Here we are discussing sight alignment.

Amy and I are discussing sight picture.

Amy putting sight picture and trigger control together.

Check out Amy and that sweet grip.

Holding your arms out there does make them tired

Amy says outloud, “I dont know…. what do you think…. Did I hit this guy in the right ventricle or the left?” Anthony replies ” Neither… you hit him in the accending aorta…. but not bad”.

We learn from watching every bit as much as we do for performing. The group was good about absorbing as much as they could. It was a very hot day and they did a great job.
Look at that fantastic form. Pistol in front of her face to see the threat. Back straight. She is palming the magazine in aggressively. What is not to like.

Team work was the name of the game. They were very good about helping each other out and I think that added alot to the confidence building.

In this live fire drill we have students that are either about to reload, almost done reloading, or still firing. Knowing how to reload quickly is very important as it is the second most dangerous part of a gunfight.

Shooting with the dominant hand only.

The youngest member of this class. She is off to college soon and we wish her all the best.

Janice shooting with the non-dominant hand. Its not as easy as it looks.

These girls are not afraid to get dirty.

Here they are. Class 051709. Thanks to all the students for putting out maximum effort. At times I am sure they wondered if they could make it to the end. I am positive they are better people for having done so. Good job gals.

Anthony in Tennessee as an assistant instructor for Tactical Response Inc on May 1-2nd 2009. It was an honor to assist such a well respected school.

All that brown stuff on my shirt is from the mud getting kicked up from about 20 girls and guys shooting rifles
It rained for 2 straight days.

It was a proud moment for me to also be coaching my 17 year old son in this class. Here is Preston shooting on the move with our custom AKS-74M. I am so proud of him.
